Description
Turresh “Tresh” the Shark is a diving petrel gryphon in K. Vale Nagle’s Gryphon Insurrection series. She damaged her beak in her youth in an incident with a rock crab that illuminated her fighting spirit at a young age but also mangled her beak. Tresh’s scarred and damaged beak are not only visually distinctive, but also a symbol of the difficulties she’s overcome in her life. Tresh’s damaged beak altered the course of her life; relearning how to speak was just the beginning of the trials she faced.
We absolutely wanted to give Tresh her own figurine. She’s small and fierce and any bookcase is safer with her on the shelf. However, we weren’t sure whether the damage to her beak would need a cost-prohibitive custom mold. Neal Deschain at Verdant Sculpts delivered once again, bringing the damage to life with delicate, precise brush strokes. Neal is immensely talented and his beak work on this figurine absolutely shows it.
Details
The figure is cast from highly durable urethane resin, each one hand painted by Neal in his iconic style, numbered, signed, and sealed with a matte protective varnish. It comes with a certificate of authenticity, signed by the artist and author: Neal Deschain and K. Vale Nagle.
The Tresh figurine measures 3 inches long, 2.5 inches wide, and 2.75 inches tall and weighs 4.2 ounces.

Sustainability

The cast is made from urethane resin, which, as a petroleum-based product, is not ecologically sustainable, but has a longevity that other materials have not yet achieved. Verdant Sculpts takes many steps to reduce its carbon footprint and conduct business sustainably: they do all production in house, reuse production mold material, choose sustainable shipping solutions, and use Golden Paints. Any figures that are unsuitable for production are sold at a discount on their website to their Collector’s Club members, keeping these items out of landfills.
